The Harold B. Lee Library’s Folding@Home took this lead this morning as the top-scoring team at BYU. Congratulations, and thanks to those who have donated their CPU cycles to such a worthy cause. Now that the HBLL team leads at BYU, their next goal is to overtake the teams at Yale, U Minn, and the University of Oklahoma.

Also of note, the author of The Last Lecture, Randy Pausch, passed away today after his extended battle with pancreatic cancer. If you want to show your support for his widow and children, the easiest (and most meaningful) way is to purchase a copy of his book.

Well, I took the first of my finals today, this one being for MFG 202, The History of Creativity 1500-Present. The test wasn’t too bad because I’d crammed like crazy for it. The tests are basically just a test of memorization and basic comprehension, with essays graded at about the same level at those for AP US History. I’m just looking forward to being done with classes and resuming a normal sleep / social schedule.

I know, I know, they said it wasn’t possible, but I might finally start blogging on a regular basis.

Okay, so it’s obviously been a while since I last posted. My bad. So let’s get up to speed …

School-wise, everything is going pretty smoothly. I decided to withdraw from my CS 345 class because the due dates for the projects conflicted with three other classes, and I’d rather work on getting my GPA up than suffer through 14 credit hours just to keep the $375 that the University decided to give me.

Goodbye, Al

I left work early on Friday to make a trip up to IKEA in Draper - I figured the store couldn’t be too crowded on a Friday afternoon/evening. Fortunately, I was correct in my assumption. The parking lot was nowhere close to full, and I was able to walk around the showrooms without having to don riot gear. While the catalog is always more efficient, I was able to find shelves for my bedroom, a small chest of drawers for my desk, a roman blind, and a medicine cabinet for the ground floor bathroom. Needless to say, the remainder of Friday and most of Saturday was spent assembling those items.

My previous attempts at blogging have been pretty futile - mostly just due to a complete lack of material. Those days are over, though - football season has begun, and I’ve got two teams to cheer for.
